Corporate Asthma Education

The American Lung Association of Colorado offers adult self-management education presentations to corporations in Colorado. These presentations give employees the self-management tools they need to control their asthma so it doesn't control them.

These asthma presentations are led by local asthma physicians and last 45 minutes including a question and answer session.

Presentations include information on the following topics:
  • What is asthma
  • What are the consequences of asthma
  • How is asthma diagnosed
  • How is asthma monitored
  • How is asthma treated
  • What are asthma triggers and how can they be avoided or managed
  • What are the latest and greatest asthma medications
  • Asthma treatment: beyond medication
  • The importance of using your medications effectively and correctly
  • The dangers of overusing quick-relief inhalers

When employees with asthma have a better understanding of the management tools available, they miss fewer work days. If you would like to know more, contact asthma@lungcolorado.org.

The American Lung Association also has resources for asthma management in schools:

  School-Based Asthma Education
Open Airways for Schools is a school-based asthma management education curriculum. It works with students to identify the actions they must take to help prevent asthma episodes and empowers them to better manage their asthma.

Asthma in the Schools Resource Box

Thousands of Colorado schoolchildren have asthma. This toolkit helps schools be prepared to respond to asthma episodes and provides an ongoing management plan that reduces missed school days.
