About Us

The American Lung Association is committed to preventing lung disease and promoting lung health through education, research, and advocacy. We offer practical help to people living with asthma, emphysema and other lung diseases. We also confront lung disease at the root level, educating kids about the dangers of smoking, pushing for more smoke-free workplaces and even working to reduce air pollution. For more information about the American Lung Association, the nation's oldest voluntary health organization, visit our national Web site.

Walking Our Talk
Here's a few things we do at our office to show our commitment to clean air and lung health. We encourage you to consider doing the same at your home or office.

We provide RTD Eco Passes and monetary reimbursement for employees who use alternative transportation. In 2007, these smart commuter policies reduced transportation-related carbon emissions from our staff by at least 6,075 pounds!!! This is more than 3 TONS of carbon pollution that WASN’T released into the atmosphere!
Our building is powered with wind energy credits from Renewable Choice Energy.
We have a Honda Civic compressed natural gas vehicle for staff use, and we have implemented telecommuting policies.

NEW! We are the proud winners of the 2007 Bike to Work Day Business Challenge - Class A in Arapahoe County.

Open air classroom
Open-air classroom in Colorado, circa 1910. The American Lung Association of Colorado was founded in 1908 in response to the tuberculosis (TB) plague that was gripping the nation at that time. High elevation and crisp, dry air made Colorado a popular location for TB sanatoriums.
